... where once there was grass ...

A wedge-shaped section that used to be lawn was tilled and transformed into garden. We finished planting last night.

Represented in the first garden at Emerald Place: hot peppers, green peppers, red peppers, onions, snap peas, chives, cherry tomatoes, brandywine tomatoes, purple cherokee tomatoes, squash, beefsteak tomatoes, basil, dill, cucumbers and parsley.

The cucumbers, dill, and hot peppers are all for refrigerator pickles, natch. Still trying to figure out how to grow vinegar. Maybe we can plant some apple trees to make Apple Cider vinegar?

Tomato up front, basil to the right.

Chives. How long before it looks like the picture?

Two rows of basil.

The view from above.

Hi, little cucumber plant. How tasty you'll be as a pickle!

I put the picture next to it, so the plant will remember what it's striving for.

Dill. Pickles. 'Nuff said.

More tomato plants.

Behind the sign, the peas shall grow.
